Dentistry Veterinarian
BSc BVMS (Hons)
Ingrid is a veterinarian with over 25 years of veterinary experience. She has worked in general practice, referral
practice and has spent 18 years working and teaching in a university hospital setting. Her duty is to safely manage the process of general anaesthesia for our dental patients. Ingrid formulates a specific plan for each individual patient, taking into account health history, current health, age, bloodwork if available, current medications, previous anaesthetic history, stress level and temperament. The anaesthetic plan also includes sedation, pain control (before, during and after procedure), and fluid therapy.
Along with anaesthesia, she has a passion and further training in Fear Free and low stress management of anxious or fearful patients in hospital. Ingrid is a qualified Fear Free veterinary practitioner and works with patients to ensure their hospital experience is a relaxed and positive one.
Dr Rebecca Nilsen
Dentistry Veterinarian
BSc BVMS (Hons), MANZCVS (Small Animal Dentistry and Oral Surgery)
President, Australian Veterinary Dental Society
Rebecca graduated from Murdoch University in 2012. After graduating she practiced in a busy small animal general practice and emergency medicine clinic.
In 2017 she pursued a teaching role with Murdoch University and Perth Zoo, imparting her knowledge of wildlife and exotics whilst mentoring the next generation of veterinarians. It was during this time Rebecca noted a need for improvement in veterinary dental care and education across all species and in 2018 completed her memberships in Small Animal Dentistry and Oral Surgery with the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists. Since 2018 Rebecca has worked exclusively in veterinary dentistry (Smiling Pet Veterinary
Dental Services) as a referral vet for more than 130 clinics in Perth and the greater metropolitan and regional area. She is currently the President of the Australian Veterinary Dental Society, which aims to provide the best possible dental and oral health care to pets by promoting awareness of veterinary dentistry to the profession.
Rebecca practices with the ethos that every animal deserves a pain free mouth. When not at work Rebecca enjoys spending time at the beach with her loveable rescue dog Libby and catching up with family and friends.
