Oncology is the study and treatment of cancer. Cancer can manifest in many different ways, according to the type and site of development. Various diagnostic tests including imaging and tissue sampling are usually required to make a diagnosis. The diagnosis and treatment of cancer often requires input from other disciplines within the practice, such as the diagnostic imaging and the surgical team in order to ensure the best possible treatment and quality of life for your pet. We can offer a range of chemotherapeutic options for lymphoma and some leukaemias and chemotherapy for selected solid tumors, usually as treatment following surgery.
A diagnosis of cancer can be frightening and confusing for owners, often with many choices to be made regarding possible treatments. A large part of our job is to talk to clients about their pet’s disease and to guide them through difficult choices with compassion and understanding.
We are passionate about ensuring that the quality of life for every patient is maintained (or even improved) as a result of their treatment and should side-effects or complications unfortunately develop, we will always immediately see your pet and do all we can to minimize their trauma and restore them to health again if possible.
